RESIDENTIAL CONCRETE FLATWORK · BOUNTIFUL & SURROUNDING AREAS

Concrete driveways & aprons.

Built for everyday vehicle loads and Utah's demanding freeze-thaw cycles. We take time on the groundwork—proper subgrades, compacted crushed road base, and positive slope away from your home.

Grounded Craftsmanship

Driveways designed to withstand Utah's weather.

Between deep winter snow, de-icing salt exposure, and intense summer sun, Utah driveways face severe climate stresses. When water penetrates unstable subgrades and freezes, it expands—causing unreinforced slabs to heave, crack, and shift out of alignment.

At Concrete Plus Contracting LLC, our focus begins well before the concrete truck pulls up to the curb. We evaluate your soil condition, remove failing asphalt or broken concrete down to solid ground, and build a compacted crushed aggregate base that sheds subsurface moisture.

Whether you need to replace a sunken 30-year-old driveway, pour a new approach apron to meet city sidewalk grade, or expand parking width for a growing family, our crew handles the work with care and direct communication.

Our Driveway Scope

Options built around your site requirements.

We tailor the project plan to what your property actually needs—from targeted apron replacements to complete driveway replacement.

Most Popular Service

Full Driveway Tear-Out & Replacement

We demolish cracked, sunken, or crumbling concrete and asphalt with mini-excavators, haul all debris to appropriate disposal or recycling facilities, rebuild and compact the gravel road base, and pour a clean, new 4" to 5" slab built to last.

New Construction

New Installation on Raw Grade

Building a new home or establishing a driveway where none existed? We establish proper elevations, calculate 1/8" to 1/4" per foot positive slope, grade subgrade soil, and place durable formwork for smooth daily vehicle access.

Street Transitions

Driveway Aprons & Curb Approaches

The apron connects your driveway to the public street curb and sidewalk. When aprons crack or drop below street level, we saw-cut, remove the damaged section, and pour a reinforced apron matching city slope standards.

Extra Parking

Driveway Widening & Parking Wings

Need room for a third vehicle or an extra parking pad alongside the garage? We excavate lawn or gravel, tie reinforcement securely into the existing driveway, and pour seamless extensions that match existing grades.

Our Working Process

How your driveway is prepared and poured.

Quality concrete work is never rushed. Here is our six-stage process from initial site assessment to final joint tooling.

01 Assessment

Site Grading & Slope Planning

We check existing slopes with transit levels to ensure rain and snowmelt flow naturally away from garage doors and home foundations toward the street or swale.

Key PriorityMinimum 1/8" to 1/4" fall per linear foot
02 Demolition

Mechanical Tear-Out & Haul-Off

Our crew breaks out old concrete and asphalt using skid-steers and hydraulic breakers. We take care to protect adjacent lawn, curbs, and underground utility paths.

Key PriorityComplete debris removal & clean site clearing
03 Groundwork

Subgrade & Road Base Compaction

Unstable topsoil is excavated. We install a minimum 4-inch layer of crushed aggregate road base and mechanically compact it with vibratory plate tampers to support the planned concrete work.

Key PriorityFirm, unyielding sub-base foundation
04 Forms & Layout

Formwork & Expansion Isolation

Straight, rigid lumber forms are staked to precise elevations. We install expansion joint material where the driveway touches existing foundations, garage slabs, or sidewalks.

Key PriorityStructural isolation from building movement
05 Pour & Finish

Placement & Medium-Broom Traction

Concrete is placed at optimal slump, screeded flat, and consolidated. We pull a uniform medium-broom texture across the surface to provide safe traction under Utah winter snow.

Key PriorityEven surface texture without slick spots
06 Tooling & Care

Control Joints & Client Handover

Edges are hand-tooled with a smooth picture frame border. Control joints are saw-cut every 8 to 10 feet to manage concrete shrinkage. We provide clear post-pour care instructions.

Key PriorityControlled joint relief & curing protection

Estimate Variables

What shapes an accurate driveway quote.

Every home site has unique characteristics. Here are the main practical factors our team evaluates during an on-site visit.

Square Footage & Dimensions

Overall length and width determine total concrete volume, base tonnage, and the crew size required for a single, seamless pour without cold joints.

Existing Surface Material

Removing 2 inches of weathered asphalt requires different equipment and dump fees compared to breaking out 6 inches of steel-reinforced concrete.

Equipment Access & Clearance

Narrow side yards, steep hillside driveways, or overhead tree limbs dictate whether we can unload directly from the mixer truck or require concrete buggies.

Subgrade Soil Conditions

Homes near the foothills or valley basin may have expansive clay soils that require deeper excavation and thicker gravel sub-base stabilization.

Vehicle Weight & Slab Thickness

Standard passenger sedans do well on 4" slabs. For heavier diesel trucks, trailers, or boat parking, 5" to 6" slabs with reinforcement help manage cracking risk.

Municipal Apron Requirements

Connecting into city street curbs in Bountiful, Centerville, or North Salt Lake may require specific transition depths or flare angles matching local code.

Practical Questions

Driveway questions, answered clearly.

Here are common questions Davis County homeowners ask us about driveway replacement, timing, and maintenance.

How thick should a residential concrete driveway be in Utah?

Thickness and reinforcement depend on vehicle loads, subgrade conditions and the project requirements. We review the intended use and specify the slab and base in the written scope rather than assume one thickness suits every driveway.

When can I walk and park on my new driveway?

Follow the release instructions supplied for your pour. Weather, concrete mix and vehicle loads affect when the surface can be used; the date for walking is different from the date for parking.

Can you replace just the damaged apron instead of the entire driveway?

A defined apron replacement may be practical if the adjoining concrete and levels allow it. We inspect the connection and discuss any public right-of-way requirements before confirming the scope.

How do you manage concrete cracking risks in Utah's freeze-thaw cycles?

Concrete can crack. Base preparation, drainage, reinforcement where specified and a considered joint layout help manage movement and cracking risks; none guarantees a crack-free slab.

Do you handle the tear-out and hauling of our old driveway?

Yes. Concrete removal and hauling can be included. The estimate should identify the removal limits, access, haul-off and disposal items so the scope is clear.

What details help you provide a quick, accurate estimate?

Share rough dimensions, your project city, the existing surface and access photographs. We then discuss a site review, desired finish and a written scope.

Many homeowners bundle driveway replacement with adjoining walkways or extra parking pads while equipment and concrete trucks are on site.
