HOW WE WORK · FROM SITE PREP TO FINAL CURE

Clear steps. Considered work.

Concrete work is permanent. Doing it right takes disciplined site planning, careful ground preparation, and experienced hands during the pour. Here is how our crew manages every project from your first call to the final broom stroke.

THE SIX PROJECT PHASES

A disciplined installation sequence.

Good concrete work begins before the pour. We review the site, agree the scope and coordinate preparation, placement, finishing and care for the actual project.

01

On-Site Consultation & Grade Assessment

We discuss how you want to use the space, measure the proposed footprint and review existing levels, drainage and equipment access. Share available plans, known utilities and any property features that need protection.

Key Check: Slope & drainage trajectory Site Review: Truck & mini-excavator access Utility Safety: Blue Stakes mark out coordination
02

Transparent Scope & Written Estimate

The written scope identifies the concrete area, preparation, removal, finish and agreed project requirements. Ask about exclusions, scheduling and how unexpected conditions or changes will be discussed.

Deliverable: Itemized written project quote Clarity: Full demo, prep & pour inclusions Timelines: Projected schedule & weather contingency
03

Tear-Out, Excavation & Subgrade Compaction

Existing material is removed within the agreed boundaries. Subgrade and base preparation are selected for the actual conditions, intended use and any project specifications.

Equipment: Skid steers & hydraulic breakers Base: 3/4" crushed gravel road base Testing: Plate tamper mechanical compaction
04

Formwork & Steel Reinforcement Grid

Formwork establishes the planned edges and levels. Reinforcement, isolation details and any required anchoring are set out according to the approved scope and plans.

Forms: Straight lines & radiused curves Steel: Project-specific reinforcement Elevation: Rebar chairs keeping steel elevated
05

The Pour & Precision Hand Finishing

The crew coordinates placement and finishing around the application and conditions. Exterior broom textures, decorative finishes and interior finishes have different requirements.

Mix Spec: Selected for the application Slump Control: Never diluted with excess water Finishing: Hand-tooled margins & clean texture
06

Control Joints, Curing & Site Handover

Joint layout and curing are part of the project plan. At handover, follow the specific care and use instructions for your pour, including when people, furniture and vehicles may return.

Joint Layout: Set for the project Curing: Chemical cure or moisture retention Handover: Cleanup and care instructions
HELPFUL HOMEOWNER PREPARATION

How to prepare your property before pour day.

Smooth projects come from good communication. Here are a few simple items that help our crew work safely and protect your home.

Vehicle Clearance

Please move personal vehicles, trailers, and campers out of the garage and driveway the evening before our equipment arrives, as access may be blocked for several days.

Sprinkler Systems

Discuss sprinkler timing and irrigation protection with the crew before excavation. If you know where underground lateral lines or valve boxes sit, let our crew know during setup.

Pets & Children

Heavy machinery and wet concrete require complete safety. Please keep family pets and small children safely indoors or away from work zones during excavation and pouring.
