Service Typical Thickness Subgrade Base Common Finish Primary Purpose
Driveways & Aprons 4" standard / 5"-6" heavy 4"+ compacted road base Medium-broom traction Daily vehicle parking, street transitions
Slabs & Foundations 4" to 6"+ per plan 4"+ gravel base + vapor barrier Smooth hand/power trowel Garages, workshops, storage sheds
Stamped Patios 4" residential flatwork 3"-4" compacted gravel Stamped texture + acrylic sealer Backyard living, dining, outdoor fire pits
RV & Boat Pads 5" to 6" reinforced 4"-6" road base compacted Broom finish with tooled edges Heavy recreational vehicle parking & storage

Planning Your Project

What we assess on your property.

We believe in transparent conversations from day one. Here are the practical variables that shape project scope and accurate estimates.

1. Machine Access & Clearances

We review gates, side-yard widths, tree canopies, and utility clearances so equipment can safely reach the work zone without damaging surrounding landscaping.

2. Subgrade Soil & Moisture

Utah soil conditions vary from Wasatch front clay to sandy loam. Proper excavation and mechanical base compaction are essential to prevent settling.

3. Positive Drainage Slopes

Concrete must shed rainwater and snowmelt away from home foundations. We plan at least 1/8" to 1/4" per foot slope on all flatwork.

4. Load & Vehicle Intent

Passenger sedans require 4" concrete, while heavier diesel trucks, RVs, and boat trailers benefit from 5" to 6" slabs with reinforcement.

5. Existing Material Tear-Out

Whether your property has failed 2" asphalt or 6" reinforced concrete determines the equipment, demolition time, and haul-off tonnage required.

6. Temperature & Seasonality

In Utah, optimal pouring weather runs spring through late autumn. When pouring in cooler weather, concrete mix chemistry and curing blankets ensure strength.
